Sacramento in 2022 – What We Can Expect

With the California State Legislature in Session and actively considering and voting on legislation, Mark Christian, Hon. AIA CA, the AIA CA Director of Government Relations, will talk about the political climate in Sacramento and about legislation under consideration that is of interest to the architectural profession.

4 Learning Objectives

• Attendees will learn how upcoming legislation can impact architects and the implications for the future of the profession.• Attendees will learn how architects can impact legislation; they will learn how they can participate and how their voices can best be heard at the legislative level.• Attendees will learn about the legislation that the AIA CA is lobbying for/against on behalf of architects and the profession.• Attendees will learn about the recent changes to CA State Law and how these changes are of interest to, and how they affect architects and the profession.

Presenter: Mark Christian

Mark Christian, Hon. AIA CA, is the Director of Government Relations for AIA California, a position he has held since 1999.  In this position, Mark is responsible for monitoring the CA State Legislature, identifying bills of interest to the profession, developing and implementing strategies for the positive outcome of legislation of interest to the profession, and representing the profession before the legislature.  Prior to joining the AIA California, Mark worked for the State Assembly for nine years in several capacities, including as a policy consultant on several environmental laws.
