Event Type

AIA Redwood Empire COTE (Committee on The Environment) presents a tour with Amanda Knowles at Camp Newman in north Santa Rosa (20-25 min drive from downtown). Come explore with the project architect!

Camp Newman works together year-round to build a community of acceptance, where they role model positive behaviors, and acknowledge that each and every member of the community is vital and important.

We will tour the new Community Center, the first building completed after the Camp was destroyed by the Tubbs Fire in 2017. We may also have an opportunity to tour one of the “new” cabins that survived the fire.

Siegel & Strain completed a master plan for the Camp in 2012 and the camp had completed $20,000,000 worth of new buildings and utilities when the fire hit. Little remained.

The new Community Center building is the first completed new building and the Camp’s first all-electric building.

Where: Camp Newman 4088 Porter Creek Rd, Santa Rosa, CA 95404

When: Friday, November 19th

Time: 1:00-2:00pm

Cost: Free
