Since we announced the campaign in October, the fund has received $11,100 in donations thus far with a goal of $20,000 to $25,000 to add to our current $40,000 endowment; thank you to those firms and individuals that have donated, and/or pledged.
By increasing the fund, this will allow us to make more, and larger scholarship awards to the many deserving architecture students who apply each year to our program. Donations of any amount can be made through AIARE’s Foundation, payable to the Sonoma County Community Architectural Foundation (Address is PO Box 4178 Santa Rosa, CA 95402)
Since 2005 the AIARE Scholarship Fund has awarded $24,800 to 18 deserving students, with many of these students receiving our support for each year of their education. In addition, we have awarded $4,000 in matching funds from AIA National, for a total of $28,800. Many of these students have been summer interns at our local firms, and some have gone on to become licensed architects in our Chapter. But more than anything, it is important that we take responsibility to support the need-based, typically first-generation college students that our fund aims to assist.
We are asking Chapter members, firms, our allied members and other individuals to make a donation today to help support the future members of our profession!
Please email me if you have any questions or would like more information. Once you decide on your pledge amount, we can either send you an invoice, or you can mail a check directly to the address above.
