Design Challenge

One significant design challenge for the Sonoma bungalow was creating a luxurious yet functional living space within a limited footprint. The solution involved adopting a compact design that maximized space efficiency while maintaining high-end appeal. To address this, the design incorporated an open plan layout, which enhances the sense of spaciousness and fluidity within the compact area. The use of a restrained palette featuring glass, concrete, and wood allowed for a seamless integration of natural materials, which not only contributes to a modern aesthetic but also ensures durability and sustainability. Physical Context

On a gently sloping site in Sonoma, a thoughtfully designed group of bungalows creates a serene retreat, blending with the natural landscape. The gently contoured terrain allows each bungalow to be nestled into the slope, providing unobstructed views of the surrounding vineyards and hills. The layout fosters a tranquil atmosphere, with each unit designed to optimize natural light and enhance outdoor connectivity.
