Inspiring Applications of Tubular Daylighting

Using tubular daylighting devices has traditionally been thought of only as a functional way to bring natural light into building design and overcome limitations of windows and traditional skylights (commonly used techniques for side and top lighting, respectively).
However, architects encounter lighting challenges from not only a practical, but also an aesthetic (design) and are now exploring how TDDs can be used as a design tool.
This session will study inspiring applications of Tubular Daylighting Devices (TDDs) around the world that deliver natural light into unique spaces and/or create visually appealing natural lighting to complement an overall design. By merging both form and function, architects can create inspiring environments that also meet the health, safety, welfare as well as sustainability goals for the building.
