This Napa County water tower is part of a three acre renovation project which includes a historic Victorian house, outbuildings, and vineyards.
The project consists of a gravity supplied domestic water system with a new tower and tank. The tower also provides occasional recreational use for both children and adults. Rather than mimic the house, the water tower seeks to become a more sympathetic part of the larger landscape and consists of naturally weathering steel wide flange frames and horizontal channel slats with exposed welds.
A shaded ipe deck sits just above ground level between four concrete plinths and overlooks the vineyards, an accordion ladder provides access to a second level stainless steel playhouse, and a 3000 gallon galvanized steel water tank occupies the third level.
