Atop a hilltop, situated on 775 acres is a hunting lodge-style dream house with views that go for miles. If you’ve ever been up to Vista Point in Armstrong Woods, the views are just as breathtaking. This project like any other had at its heart the people who created it from the owner’s desires and vision to the architect, engineers, consultants, contractor and tradesmen who made it a reality.
We got to meet some of these people and hear about their experiences with this project. From the beginning, everyone on the project was involved in intense collaboration. They were able to anticipate and understand the constraints of the project, and build a house that reflected the owner’s personality and intentions. Some of the objectives for the project were that the materials were to be green and zero-net energy, that the house needed to feel spacious and light with a strong connection between interior and exterior spaces. The owner wanted to enjoy the outdoors while staying protected from the weather.
Here are links to several articles about the project with more detailed information. This is the second house tour where the project team has been on hand to answer questions about the project. They are definitely worth taking the time to see the houses and talk to the project teams. Keep an eye out for the next one! Want to see more? Here are photos from the tour.
